Symbid: Your Investment Sparks Promising Ideas and Profits

Symbid, is an ‘equity-based’ crowdfunding platform for promising business ideas. Anyone can become an investor as the minimum investment is only twenty euros. Unlike other crowdsourcing companies Symbid, a partner of Enviu, allows participants to become partial owners.

The way it works is that first funds are transferred to a Symbid account. Next some or all of the funds are transferred to a project on the site, at which point it is considered an investment. For making the initial deposit into the Symbid account there is a small transaction fee of 2.5%.  Money can then be transferred to various ideas without further cost.

By selecting the best ideas participants can receive a return on investment in the form of dividends. Should you wish to sell your shares you can also realize a profit based on value creation within the company. Anyone can register as an entrepreneur on Symbid and it is incumbent on the investor to do the necessary research to ascertain the company and or the project’s legitimacy. Some ideas may not be successful meaning that it is also possible to lose money.

One very promising idea listed on the website is a portable, affordable, solar powered LED lamp that provides safe and reliable light to 1.5 billion people in the world who do not have access to electricity.  The WAKAWAKA solar LED light can run for 16 hours after one day of solar charge  and costs around $10, the equivalent of 2 months of kerosene, the traditional fuel of lamps used by people in remote areas. Kerosene fumes are toxic and very dangerous, in India alone 2.5 million people are treated for kerosene related burns.
